Wrinkle Fillers
Collagen is a natural protein that is the main constituent of skin. It provides the structural support, resilience and shape to the skin. Over time, it reduces in number. This causes the skin to lose elasticity, allowing fine lines and wrinkles to develop. Collagen replacement therapy using wrinkle fillers such as juvederm is a very popular treatment for wrinkles and facial lines. The procedure helps to fill up lips, cheek bones and smooth away laugh lines, forehead lines, frown furrows, lipstick lines, acne pits, crow’s feet to give you a more fuller and youthful appearance.
What are wrinkle fillers?
Wrinkle fillers are products used to add volume to the skin surface, thereby minimising the appearance of wrinkles, lines and folds. Different to anti-wrinkle injections, wrinkle fillers are more suited to the treatment of problem areas not affected by facial muscle contraction. Wrinkle fillers can also be used for lip enhancement.

How do wrinkle fillers work?
When injected just under the skin, wrinkle fillers integrate with the surrounding tissue, allowing free passage of oxygen and hormones. This results in natural, healthy-looking facial skin. Over time, the fillers are broken down by your body’s natural biological processes and removed from the body. There are no long-term problems associated with wrinkle fillers.
What does treatment with wrinkle fillers involve?
The filler is injected with a very fine needle just under the skin. To eliminate discomfort, a local anaesthetic is used to numb the treatment area. Treatment usually takes 10–30 minutes depending on the area being treated.
How long will the treatment last?
The effects will vary for each individual. Wrinkle fillers can last anywhere between 9 and 12 months.
Are wrinkle fillers safe?
The treatment is extremely safe with very few side effects. Most wrinkle fillers are comprised of natural or synthetic materials that are broken down and metabolised by the body over time.
Are there any side effects or complications?
After treatment, skin may be inflamed and tender around the injected site. This can last up to 48 hours. There may also be some temporary lumpiness at the injected site. Minor bruising can also occur. In rare cases, infections can occur and is usually resolved quickly with antibiotics.
What results can I expect?
You will see immediate results after the injections. Final results will be seen after a few days, allowing time for the reduction of any redness or swelling caused by treatment.
How much does it cost?
The price varies depending on the extent of treatment required. In general, wrinkle fillers are priced by the amount which is injected, per c.c.
